Lavender, in both its fresh and essential oil forms, has a long history of being used in herbal medicine. It is used for its calming properties, and recent studies have backed up folk wisdom that lavender helps alleviate anxiety, as well as aiding sleep and helping tackle insomnia. Applied topically, lavender oil also has anti-bacterial properties, making it a gentle option to fight acne.
